July 4, 2020

Today is a pretty big day for the USA.  Folks will congregate to celebrate the day the founding fathers declared independence.  We will not be getting out among the folks.  Here are a few photos from a few years ago.  Everyone stay safe and healthy.  We are surely trying to do that as the numbers continue to rise here in Texas.  Now that the cows are out, so to speak, the governor has made it mandatory with a penality of fines to wear a mask in public.

We had curbside pickup for some articles for the closet project.  That worked smooth as could be.  Had curbside pickup for an order of groceries.  The grocery pickup was easy, too.  Have some barbecue brisket for our dinner and watermelon.  And that is how we are celebrating Independence Day.

Stay safe, stay healthy and be happy!

Hope you had a good one with your brisket and melon... fireworks went off around 11pm here last night. Students maybe? It was quite disconcerting! YAM xx

    1. It was a pretty good day and the evening had a few booms. Pretty lucky that this building is fairly quiet. Namaste, janice x

  2. Hope you had a good 4th of July.
Our national day changes every so often, as it is called Queen's or King's Day and is celebrated on the birthday of the current monarch. It started with Wilhelmina who had her birthday in August. Then Juliana, who had her birthday in April. Then came Beatrix who had her birthday in January which she didn't think was a good day to have off (weather and such), so she kept her mother's day. And now Willem Alexander, who has his birthday in April as well, just a few days earlier than his grandmother. A bit of a change for most of us, as we were so used to April 30th and now it's April 27th. Our next queen to be (Amalia) was born in December. I think Queen's Day might stay in April then as well...

    1. That is unusual. I did not realize the day would change like that. Had a good day, mostly low key which is our style.

  3. Barbecue brisket and watermelon sound good! We did not see fireworks this year as we're camping at a state park...lots of lovely trees and birdsong. Take care!

    1. Well, camping sounds fun. We have sort of given that up mostly because we needed a taller tent. Hubby is 6'+. Last time we camped was probably 2008. Hubby will be 80 in a couple of months and really does not to lie on a blow up bed on the ground! And I am ok with that. But I do mis the campfires and camp cooking.

  4. I hope you had a good day.
But - just think - if you hadn't done this you could still have been British!

  5. We are always in drought in Colorado so we did not have big firework shows this year. We did watch neighbors shoot off some ground ones. It was a quiet holiday!
