The weekend was filled with graduations, both high school and university. Time constraints did not allow me to attend my twin great nephews' ceremonies. But photos were sent from their mom. These two were originally accepted into different universities as well as the University of Texas. They wanted to stay together so both chose UT.
This group of six includes one of the twins. The group is the Honor students for Neuro Polymath. I have read what this is but still not sure.
Twins with their mom giving her a hard time following the second ceremony the the other twin who had majors in chemistry and film science. As my son put it those two are crazy smart.
By noon on Saturday we were seated at the H.E.B. event center to watch 799 young men and women graduate. We knew three of them. The program began at 1:00. Our group had taken chances on when it would be complete. 2:30, 2:58, 3:00 all came and went before the program was over. It ended around 3:40.
That Arkansas Woo Pig Sooie helped us find our girl.
She had texted she was next to a really tall guy. Yes, he was.
Finally found the second grad we have know since he was one. He lives across the street from our grandsons. He is considered # 1 grandson's BFF. He is that tall guy in profile.
The seating for the spectators was snug. We seven had cameras, phones, two foot signs spelling out the granddaughter's name. Grandson's phone slipped from his hand and you see him attempting to recover it. He was so tickled he could hardly stand back up after finally reaching the phone. Then the guy behind him dropped his phone under the grandson. It was a bit easier to retrieve.
Once all the names were called, the alma mater song was sung one last time the principle had the students in mass turn to all four directions for the final photo op.
We will do this again next year for # 1 Grandson. I will not wear heels. Just sayin'.

ReplyDeleteCongrats to all for getting through this. Yes, you on the heels... 😉 YAM xx
And not falling down the steep stairs in the stadium.
DeleteCongratulations to you all, it takes a whole loving family of supporters to produce one clever graduate!
ReplyDeleteWren x
Thanks, yes it does.
DeleteI always think these things go on for way too long. An hour in and hardly anybody is listening to the main speeches any more. But that may just be me...
ReplyDeleteNo, not just you. The valedictorian had a really entertaining speech. Which helped. The seats are not made for folks the size of my husband, 6"2". Makes for an uncomfortable few hours.
