Thursday Brrrrrrr

As expected we woke up to ice and sleet-covered landscape and roads.  Temperature is hanging in the 24℉, -4.4℃,  which is one more reason to not leave the warmth of the little apartment.

As you can see Hubby had covered the plants with a quilt.  That is now covered with ice and sleet.  The fountain is frozen but still running.  Hoping it can keep things flowing in the fountain.  Temperatures are expected to be on the rise by Saturday.

There are plenty of projects to keep one busy if inspired.  None are inspiring at the moment.  Well, except another book where the end is in sight.  While checking email, one is taken down a rabbit hole.

One email reminds the group is time to get the dues in for the new year.  It needs to be a check.  Checks have not been a part of finances in this apartment for years.  The software to print was no longer compatible with the newer computers.  A few checks had been printed but long since misplaced.  All finances were handled online. The organization's online service was not compatible with the bank of choice we use.   Hero Hubby dug deeper into his style of filing and found the last 4 blank checks.  Check filled out and ready to be addressed and sent.

Still, it is obvious a new compatible check printing program would be prudent.  Seldom do actual dollars cross our fingers.  Part of the change away from handled bills and checks was enhanced since the onset of Covid.  Many businesses only accept digital funds.  Fewer germs and that is important as Covid continues to surge around this area.  The map from The New York Times showed the percentage of vaccinated.  Still not near the numbers needed to reach herd immunity.

Back to the checks and how to get them printed.  Guess the check software search will be the project to consume several of the indoor hours today.  One never knows the next time a check will be needed.

Y'all all be safe out there,
Janice

Crikey - the use of cheques here and in OZ has been pretty much dropped. I haven't owned a chequebook for a decade... and payment is by online banking/direct deposit. YAM xx
